AboveBeyond sits where two worlds meet. Eight years as Web3 lead at Howest’s Cyber3Lab: public and private blockchains first, then European trust infrastructure, EBSI and verifiable credentials, and, since 2025, what it takes for an AI agent to be worth trusting. The studio is where that work stops being research and starts being something people use: software we build, agents we govern in production, and a verification method we publish as open source.

AboveBeyond is led by Shane Deconinck. That research was at Howest’s Cyber3Lab, building production implementations of European trust infrastructure — EBSI, verifiable credentials — and nowwhat it takes for AI agents to be worth trusting. Human-centered by training, iterative by conviction.

That work was recognised with the 2025 LF Decentralized Trust Community Award.
